WOW can you believe the year is almost over only 7 weeks to go. We had better get a jiggle on. At least we have now identified our learning gaps and we can focus on what our next learning steps are as well as practising all the awesome learning we have done this year.
You are all working so hard to create your 'Stop Animations' I really hope some of them are ready for our RBS TV showcase assembly on Thursday 4th November. Good luck.
This is the blog for Room 5 a year 4 class at Red Beach School. We are very enthusiastic about our learning and welcome people to join us on our journey.

Time Traveller 3000
Well all our hard work has come to an end as we get ready for our first proper show. The props are ready, the words are learned now all we have to do is project our voices and remember to have fun. You have all worked extremely hard and I am sure the shows will be fantastic.
I am extremely proud of all of you for persevering to learn your words and for your amazing singing.
Good Luck.

Production
Now that we are almost half way through term 3 our attention is turning to the Production in week 10. We are busy learning our lines, learning our songs and making our costumes. We will use our blog as a reflection tool to discuss how things are going and where to next.
I'm sure it will be a very hectic time but exciting too.

Kiwi Community trip to Auckland Zoo.
Wow, what an awesome trip. Although the weather wasn't the usual sunshine that Mrs O'Reilly has on her school trips, it drizzled most of the day. We did avoid any heavy down pours and most of the animals came out to play.
We were a little bit disappointed not to see the kiwi other than for a few people who managed to catch a glimpse of a beak as it explored a hollow log. We did have an informative talk from an expert all about Operation Kiwi and an explanation of what Auckland Zoo is doing to help conserve the kiwi.
Mrs O'Reilly has said she was extremely proud of us all as we used our RICH Red Beach Hearts and we were all focused on finding out as much information as we could about the Zoo and the animals we will be including in our Production piece later this term.
The parents who came with us were a great help too, so a big thank you to all of you.
Check out our photos.

Room 5's ideas about why kids should blog.
Kids should blog to communicate with other people who are not with them at the time.- Christian and Toby.
It's fast and fun. It gives you a chance to use our Avatars. You can save movies and maps that you have made. We can share our thoughts and ideas with more people. - Ashlea and Sophie.
You can reflect on other people's work and ideas. You can read other people's comments. You can find out what is going on and what is new. You can dialogue/communicate with friends and family in other parts of the world. We can practise our writing. - Charlotte and Aalyana.
So kids can get used to using electronic communication. It gives us a chance to share stuff about our school. - Troy and Brandon.
So you can blog your friends and family. We can comment on our friends work. We can see our work online. People can blog us and we can see the blogs of our friends and family. - George and Karl.
We should blog so we can reflect on our learning in the past. Ivy and Jenny.
Kids should blog to keep in touch with other people. You can also practise your typing and get faster. We should blog to keep up with technology. Matt and Fraser.
You can share jokes. You can show that you have a R.I.C.H. heart. It gives us a purpose. You can find out how people are feeling- Shanae and Adelle.
So you can keep in touch with people who visit you from other schools or countries like Caitlin from Avenue School in Belmont U.K. How are you Caitlin?By publishing our work it gives us a reason to write. We can take risks when posting comments. We can ask questions and get answers from people outside of our school. You can communicate with the class even if you are off school sick or on holiday. Paris and Tristan.
We can comment about our learning. Mitchell and Oliver.
So we can make friends in other parts of the country or world. Jack and Ashton.
Blogging gives us a global audience for our work, it means we can get positive feedback from others. Room 5.

Queen's Birthday
We have just had a long weekend for the Queen's birthday and unfortunately the weather wasn't too brilliant. Never mind I hope you all managed to have a good time regardless of the weather and you are all refreshed for the next 4 weeks.
We are preparing for the student led conferences in week 10, remember you need to know exactly where you are in your learning, how it is going, and where you are going next. Be thinking about your next learning step.
Now down to some work.

Term 2
Not long now until the beginning of Term 2.
Receiving a comment from Shanae whilst she is on holiday in Australia just goes to show how brilliant blogs are for keeping in touch.
I hope Shanae has a great time and enjoys her birthday over there.
It was also lovely to meet Caitlin from Avenue school on the last Monday of Term 1 when she came in for a visit with her sister Louise and her Mum and Dad. She shared an amazing Powerpoint with us all about Avenue School in Belmont England and we took heaps of photos that we will publish on this blog when we come back to school on Monday. There is also a little spot dedicated to her visit on the first episode of RBSTV which goes live on Tuesday 20th April. Hopefully we will have a link on this blog for those that want to watch it.
That's all for now Mrs O signing out as I have heaps of stuff to do still before the children come back next week.

Week 5
We are now half way through term 1 and WOW it is exciting. Every single person in room 5 is giving their absolute best effort every day in class and I am constantly amazed at how your learning is going.
We are all getting a kick out of reading this blog so make sure you spread the word and tell friends and family that they can comment or send us messages. I amplanning on putting some of your work on here for people to look at and we can publish some of your writing to hopefully get feedback from a wider audience and not just our class mates.
Keep investigating Kiwis and using the Powerful Learning process to 'Get it' 'Sort it' and 'Use it'. We will be using all of this learning to find out what we can do to make a difference to the kiwi in the wild. Watch this space.

Day 1 at Red Beach School
This is day 1 for us in Room 5 and we are planning to start as we mean to go on. This year our focus is going to be on Empowerment and Making a Difference and we are going to be making use of lots of e-learning tools to help us achieve our goals.
I am looking forward to sharing ideas and deepening our thinking. We will be using this blog as a tool for reflection and communication not just with each other but to connect to a much wider audience.
I hope you all enjoy your year as much as I am sure I will.
